On Tuesday we will be flying out of Buenos Aires, heading back to London. So we effectively have a long weekend of carefree holiday left. Many fellow travellers we've met along the way have asked us what has been the best country we visited? the highlight of the trip? Before answering, I have to say that I'm very happy to have taken the opportunity to throw caution to the wind and set off for seven months, and to have been able to travel with Christophe. There is not one highlight, but several, in every country we visited (except perhaps Singapore, but even then I'm glad we were able to judge for ourselves what a soulless place it is). The temples in Angkor Wat, the jungle experience in Thailand, the food in Malaysia, snorkeling in the geat barrier reef (including the helicopter ride!), whale watching (Christophe's favorite), surfing, wine-tasting, climbing volcanoes, trekking in Patagonia where we saw huge glaciers, and on the Inca trail, where the arrival through the sun gate above Machu Picchu was amazing. There's more! Dancing tango, driving through the desert, seeing long lost friends...I may have missed some out, but then why don't you just read the previous entries?!
Now I feel a little nervous coming back to London, having to find work and accommodation. Part of me wants to resume 'normality', but I have a feeling it won't be that easy. It's a similar feeling to stage-fright. I just have to get on with it. Once I know my cue, I'll get my act together. The problem is that most of us don't know what we want and yet we're responsible for what we are. Unlike the Bush administration, I had a carefully planned exit strategy, but I haven't given the re-entry much thought. So if anyone out there wants to offer me advice or a job, I'll be very grateful!
Thanks for reading, hopefully I haven't bored you too much.
See you soon.
