Warning! Soppy alert!
Almost every day we are doing out of the ordinary things. During the stint in southeast Asia we visited many temples, monuments and places of cultural and historical interest. In Australia all that is replaced by activities centered around the breathtaking scenery. We took a boat out into the ocean to go on a whale watching trip from Hervey Bay. The whales travel from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean to have their calves where the water is warmer. It was like nothing I've experienced before. I was pretty excited when I woke up that day, like a kid on Christmas day. At first the humpbacked whales were far away, and that was already exciting. Then we approached them and they were swimming and frolicking around the boat. Huge 15 metre, 45 tonne mammals! Christophe and I were completely overwhelmed. Being that close to a creature that big, and yet they are so graceful and peaceful. I was grinning the whole time and felt like skipping all the way back to our hostel when we returned to shore.
